Default Lowering Narrow Glide Front End

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried sliding up the forks in the trees to get the front end to sit slightly lower? I had heard of this trick and I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it before I did it myself. I didn't want to go through with changing the springs if I didn't find I liked the lowered front end. I was going to lower it about 3/4" or so.

I imagined so, anyone have any reaction to it, whether it is something they recommend. It seems pretty innocuous but I wanted to get some opinions. I'll probably still do it.
