fuel milage

I guess I'm in the ballpark for mileage, but like has already been said, it's how you ride. My daughter asked about mpg, I said not as good as I could cause I ride hard, she new what I meant, she's 12. If, like others have said you're on a road trip then check it out, for me, I make too many short runs to really care. As far as checking for problems, I like to check out the color of the pipes to see if I'm running lean or rich or whatever.

After reading all the posts in this thread I guess I need some advice from the forum members. I have got great advice in the past from this forum. I have an 05' FXDLI that gets about 45-50 mpg on the highway which is where most of my riding takes place. I have the stage I, Pythons, and SE A/C. I had the stage 1 done shortly after buying the bike and the tech remapped the ECU for the mods. The bike now has 18K and runs fine but, IMO, it appears to run a little hot (also, we have very warm days in south AL). It will pop occasionally on decel but not in an annoying way. What I'm wondering is if the bike is running too lean? Should I have the dealer remap it again after 20K? Since it is an 05' with the 88" engine the dealer said they would be glad to install a fuel management system but said the gain would be marginal and basically a waste of $$. Do you buy this? How do know if your bike is leaned out too much? I would appreciate any thoughts/advice.
