Default Key Fob Wear Out/Bike Thinks It Is Being Stolen

This happened once a week or two ago, now it is happened more - you put the key in and the bike still thinks it is being stolen (blinkers flash). When you hit the starter button,, nothing happens. Eventually, the damn thing starts.

Any ideas?

I'll be - the key fob splits in two, and there is a battery in there. I'll run down to rite-aid and get a new battery. Hopefully, that's the fix!

Thanks, guys

Buy two and keep one in your wallet.

The fob warks kinda like a transponder key like the newer cars have.
I had the one in my wifes bike go dead and since i was at home i just grabbed the spare set of keys and have been using them since.
My '06 has the manual alarm and i like that way better, and also the bike is a year older and has about 15,000 miles more on it and the original battery is still good.
You need to set an overide code for the alarm (proceedure is in the manual) and take the quick reference overide card out of the back of your manual and keep it with your paperwork so you don't get stranded.

If he had stopped and turned the bike off he wouldn't have been able to restart it.

You can manually enter a passcode by using your turn signals to bypass the FOB. It is a 5 digit code, but you have ot know what the deler set it up as.
