Default What cams for my 06 BOB??

Im planning on a cam swap for my BOB, I have a screamin eagle race tuner, I have the thunder header, have a kuriakin pro charger intake breather, and all Im really after is a little better mid range, and a better exhaust note. In wyoming I had it dynoed with 87hp as it sits, and I want a little more of course. I want to ditch the crappy factory chain and tensioner, and go gear drive, but I am torn between witch lit to order.

I also dont want to dick with having it re tuned and was told some cams just have more lift, and tuning is not needed, is that true?

if you're doing cams, you most definitely should have it retuned. Without a doubt.

Some will say:

Andrews 26 / 21 / 37
Woods tw6 and they also have the 408 which looks a little better on the dyno sheets

if you want bolt-in....it's gonna run ya about $800-$1000 soup to nuts. I'm in the process of rounding up the parts and have gotten two quotes from two dealers for about the same price which included dyno-tune.

Also talked to an indy who wants to send the heads to Tman Performance in NC for a little headwork. Another couple hundred...

Im planning on doing all this myself. My buddie has the tools for pressing out the cams, and I have done several cam swaps in bikes, but never a twin cam. All I need is a good cam selected for my application. Nice broad curve, and a good note.

I can trailer it to my dealer and have it tuned

The andrews cams can usually be had fairly cheap. Check ebay.

Think you and your buddie's cam swap tools could make an appearance in sc? lol I'd really love to save the 400 or so labor charge.

A lot of people swear by Woods cams. I have a set of those (tw6). Check out http://www.woodcarbs.com and check out the dyno sheets on the tw6 and 408. You can also look up Headquarters cams. A few have those too and say they're real good. The tw6 I know is a straight bolt-in cam. They also have gear-driven versions too.

you have an 88" or a 96"?

Andrews 37 is a great one for an 88, even if you go up to a 95 and do some headwork the Andrews 37 is great.

Exactly...woods tw-6-6 are also good for midrange in a stocker & will be a great set later for headwork & big bore! About the same specs as the andrews 37, both are great for what you're lookin for. The 6's have a very slightly longer duration & intake close of 40 as the 37's close at 36...very close to the same!

Gotta put in a word for Andrews 37s. I absolutely couldn't have been more happy with my 37s in my 95". I had SBC heads and Propipe and it ran strong through the rpm range. If I hadn't gone with a complete stage 3 kit which included cams when I bought my Bob I would have gone 37s with that too.

Thanks guys... I have heard good words on the Andrews 37, but wanted to hear the skinny on everything.

Im probly goin with the 37 this winter. Im gonna ride the wheels off it this year, and save up for the entire kit.

Cam, big bore, and the tuning/dyno riun.
