Default Battery Cover Band removed (holes plugged)

Since everybody seems to notice little things like this, I just implinemted a real sweet fix to the holes in the battery cover issue after removing the aluminum band on my FXDB.

I plugged the holes with a set of rubber fender plugs that I got from my local dealer. Under $3, and looks perfect.

In case anyone is interested, part is:

Plug, Fender
Part # 10228

Takes a bit of twisting to get it in all the way since the plugs are a bit bigger than the holes, but if you armour all the part that goes in the hole, it will just twist in with minimal effort..

That battery band is a bit of a waste isn't it? Mine sort of spreads apart from the ends of the box left and right, looks kinda cheap--cheesy! I'm gonna take mine off and use your fix. Cudos Deatproof72!!

I agree completely. Didn't realize how much better it looked without the band until I removed it. Glad the info was helpful...

I think it looks good, but I also like the retro look of the band. Kind of reminds me of the dash panels on my '54 Chevy.
