I installed a set of Mto-129's on my lowrider the sound is awsome but was wondering if they will get louder (hope so)?

 

They will sound a little different as the carbon builds up in them, not necessarily louder.

 

I know this is an old post but was wondering if anyone else will give some input. For the time being Im looking for something throaty and affordable. I'm not looking for excessively loud pipes. Will just adding cycle shacks slip-on's require a/c and tuning

I have the Cycle Shack slipons on mine and they are pretty loud. My wife can hear me coming down the road about 4 blocks away. They are really nice for the money, personally am going to go to full pipes later next month as the CC slipons seem to get cracky sounding once they've gotton a few miles on them. I have 20K on mine.
As for the tuning and a/c you will get a varied responce from the forum. I personally just have the slipons with stock everything else and all is fine.

 

I still have my MTO-129's sitting in the garage and I'm surprised that the OP was complaining that they're not loud enough! I remember when I first put them on I thought they were LOUD as HELL (compared to stock of course).

ynots I loved my cycle shacks -- the price was right and the sound/looks were great. I will say though that after an iron butt type ride they started to yellow where they attach to the headers. I know the pipes got hot after running for 21hrs straight so I don't think that would have happened under normal riding conditions.

 

I had them and they were too loud. Replaced them with the SE Race mufflers (pre 06) and now have a deeper more mellow tone. 2 each their own taste.

 

It sounds like the cycle shack slips are probably louder than Im looking for. I live on a hill and the neighbors have already had their fill of noise from my cummins diesel. Then again they are pretty inexpensive.... DECISIONS.... DECISIONS! LOL
