Chrome, Gloss Black or Flat Black Handlebars?
#12
I think I would spare the expense and hassle of doing the trees and fork legs, so for all intents and purposes, my consideration for bar finish is with the stock front end. There was actually a gash in my bars when I picked up the bike, so they are replacing the bars free of charge and giving me the option to take the new ones to be refinished before having them swapped out...

What I am taking now into consideration is the fact that the from rim is gloss black, as is the headlight cover and the frame, with this all linked to the front end, gloss may pop more. Will also contrast with the flat black of the brake fluid resevoir, hand control bases, grips and the mirrors...
Maybe I will use electrical tape on the handlebars just to see if I dig the look after a few days,...

Wow, I am having the exact same dillema! Changing my mini apes to something a little flatter and was tossing up between the same three options. Thanks for posting, and all the replies, from looking at some pics I think I will go with black (not sure about glossy or flat tho.....argh decisions!)

I think they are more of a semi gloss, not flat like the tanks, but not gloss like the frame?
If that makes any sence.
I would like to eventually get the lowers and trees done, in gloss, but takes money....
Chrome would look good, especially if you chrome the lowers.....

if you are planning to have your trees and lowers p-coated... then i would wait to have the bars coated at the same time with the same finish.
if you put a pic of your bike in MS Paint... then brush what ever items you want black and see what you think... will help you choose between chrome or black... but wont help so much for flat or gloss
im also contemplating some p-coating... flat or wrinkle for the front end, rocker box covers, battery band, strut covers, and some of the shock covers... right now i thinking rockers in wrinkle and the rest in flat!
