It's basically a 'force absorber', absorbing any rapidly changing forces from, and to, the crank. It has a spring loaded ramp, similar to the clutch, except it takes increasing force to get up the ramp. The stock compensator has really weak springs in it. If you have a Dyna that gives that classic 'bang' when you start it cold... that's the stock compensator running to the end of it's limit. (mine does this)

It's advertised as a SE performance part, but it really is a part that needs to be stock on all the 96" motors.... and as a side note, the softail Rockers now come stock with them, as I understand it. Dominec(username) recently installed one, and was quite impressed with the difference.

Here's the thread that made a believer outta me:

Hmm, that makes alot of sense. I was lookin at the SE site and it looks like it is for newer bikes. Have to keep my eyes open for an alternative.

You cant? My first ride since Nov. was on sat! I rode it for about 15 min. It was only 35* though. I had a just got back from getting it tuned. I only had a hoodie on and no hat. I was so pumped to ride it, It took about 10-15min just to get cold...LOL

I only got on it once, first gear goes by REALLY fast! Missed the shift light and hit the limiter, second gear went by really fast too and pulled like crazy! I can't wait till we catch a break in the weather and I can try it again!

Very nice 95" build, nice smooth power band all through. Andrews 37g same lift as my Woods 6g, both 510 lifts. Nice choice!!!

Great numbers and that Dyno shows the power curve at where you want it. Great pics also. I have the SE Compensator installed and the improvement in the driveline, hot starts is amazing. It also comes in handy on quick acceleration off the line, it utilizes the torque you have with out hesitation. I couldn't believe the difference from stock.

I did some research and found that quite a few 110's are in the 80 HP and upper 90's Ft/Lbs range. Yeah, I'll have quite a bit of fun with them!

Congrats on a great build!

Since coming back from Daytona Bike week I've managed to get my 95" done and put nearly a thousand miles on it.....most of them with both wheels on the ground

I'll get around to doing the dyno sooner or later but for now the downloaded map is working too good to spend the bucks just to get the #s on paper.
