Remapping your tuner for pipes and air filter.

It's done at the dealer's service department. It enables you to keep your stock efi arrangement when you add more air, high flow (stage 1) air cleaner, and aftermarket exhaust. It would seem that as a rule, you could do one or the other without any alteration to your efi.

Yeah, in retrospect the 150 bucks was not worth it.

If I had to do it over...... I'd probably do it again... 'cause it's just damn hard to have parts in the garage waiting for more parts to arrive before you can install them.... just doesn't work for me... ... so I did mods as I could afford. (slip on pipes, stg.1 a/c, and stg.1 download).

There's a law of diminishing returns meaning it costs more and more money to make more and more horsepower. The stage 1 upgrade is one of the best investments a rider can make from a performance standpoint and most (I'm going out on a limb here) riders have it done.

What is the performance gain with the stage 1 upgrade from stock? Response, power, torque? Would like to know some numbers from people that have done it especially on a Fatbob.

Thats a bit of a loaded question.

Its hard to say because there are so many different possibilities for stage 1. For example Thunderheaders will perform better then a short shots but they are both stage 1 upgrades.

It seems like your torque should be in the mid to low 80s though (at the wheel the HD site states crank numbers).

Let's just say you install a free breathing air filter and let's say the air/fuel mix goes from an EPA required 14.7:1 to 16.5:1, then the dealer will remap your ECM back down to the EPA requirement. There are plug in fuel management devices that that can enrichen your mix. This will boost some power and bring the cylinder temps down a little.
