Default Low profile Compact and other Windshield pics and feedback request.

I have never used a windshield, this is new territory for me. I am taking some long trips this riding season, so a shield is needed now.

If any one has any pics of your ride with a shield on it I would greatly appreciate taking a look at it. I am seriously considering getting the shield tomorrow.

The shield I am considering is the Quick Release Detachable Compact Windshield - Low Profile, pn: 58348-06

Any and all pics and any feedback regarding your shield is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

I have the smoked version. Use it on longer trips. Usually on the return home is when the windshield really helps. Don’t like the look but it does cut down on the fatigue. I might try a handle bar roll bag on my next trip and see if that helps.

Here is my ride with a standard height windshield. It is really great on long rides and it also helps big time in the winter.

Thumbs up

Zero, I've got the QD windshield standard height on my SG Custom. It is a nice piece and works well. I had to trim 1 1/2" off it in order to see just over it. You can also slide it up and down the fork tubes between the trees a couple inches for some height adjustment. On and off in 10 seconds! Bob

I've got the quick detach Memphis Shades Rio Grande as well. Love it.

Don't see it too much, but i use it as a Jacket holder when it's too hot to ride in Daytona

I would highly advise against getting the low profile. It is to short and you most likely not like riding with it on. Get a standard height and then cut it down to the height you need. They are easy to cut down and there is a nice write on this forum in the how to section. If dont want to cut it your self most glass companies could cut it down for you.

I dont use mine much but its nice for a trip and when the temp is below 50.

Dont have many pics with it on so its a older pic but it is the Standard height I cut down about 3 inches. I still need to shape the sides some but wanted to make sure It was cut down enough before finishing up.

Try a Windvest - its small inconspicuious and the recurve gives you lots of protection. You may still get a little head buffeting but it still feels like riding without a big shield. I ride 400-500 on a regular basis and the reduction of the fatigue that comes with riding without a shield is incredible.
