Engot,
Did you change your seat, it looks different. Also I noticed after installing the Progressives that I would need to lean the bike a little to the right just to get the jiffy stand out, and now the bike sits more upright because of the lower height. Kinda concern when I park the bike at certain terrains, so I am now looking for a kickstand for lowered bikes.

was speaking to a guy who changed his shocks and said it was not as comfortable as stock when going over railroad tracks and and small bumps.

I used one of those Sears motorcycle jacks, but I still needed to raise the front wheel by placing it on top of a 2x4. Placed a block on rear wheel to release tension and remove and replaced shocks. The hardest part was just jacking it up, since the bike was so low aready. Changing the shocks took only 5 minutes for both. You may want to get an extra person to help. Also since it will be lower, you will need to place the front wheel on two 2x4s when lowering.

I have the stock height progressive 440's on my 2005 FXDX
looks great, rides great
I have the heavy duty which progressive recomends for riders over 225 lbs.
I'm 260 lbs. and they are just right....I love the 440's BUT I would not recomend the heavy duty shocks
unless you were at least 250 lbs.
the recomended "sag or squat" is only 1/4 to 1/2 inch from progressive rep
if you need more info feel free to pm me

Yes I do find that I need to lean it a bit more to the left to use the kickstand. But never bothered me so far. I bought an 05 bare bones Lepera I find it fits me right its the narrowest one out I can find which meant my legs plants more to the ground.

Thanks for the info. I was going to have the dealer install them when I went for my 1000 mile tune up. You say it takes about 15min. progressive says it takes about 20-30min. the dealer told me it would take about 4 HOURS.[sm=badbadbad.gif] I don't know much about wrenching on bike so you just saved me a load of cash.

Not a dumb question! I got mine (though Chrome) at MAW (Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse) for only $197, which included shipping (great price). They have two shipping warehouses, one on the east coast and one on the west, so it only took a 2-3 days to get to me. Order info is below. There's several of them depending on your weight.

Order# 35969 $182.95 Progressive 412 Series Shocks Pair 11" Black Mfg.#: 4124037B (Same as Progressive's part number)
