Default Dual to single throttle cable

I have been told you can just get rid of the return cable, that you only need the throttle, is it true?
Anyone out there dumped the dual throttle cables and just gone to a single?
What changes if any were required? would there be a difference between carb and EFI in doing this?

secondary cable added due to laws to help prevent a stuck throttle. More years of bikes having single cables than dual. Should work fine.

Is there a return spring also? Might have to replace with a better one if so?

Funny you should bring that up. I've been thinking about that. The pull side has a big enough spring that there shouldn't be any issues. I've been thinking about this because I'm toying with the idea of an internal throttle. Would clean up the bars real nice. Not sure it'll work with the Kury iso grips though.

I have'nt done it to a harley, but have done it to all the jap chops that i have built, with no problems.
As stated earlier,it's an aid to prevent sticking throttle,no more,no less.It will be fine to remove it.

If you thought "what if" to everything you wouldnt ride at all.
Lubricate and maintain a smooth run on your cables and you wont have any problems.I ve never had a throttle stick in all the years i've been riding bikes.Thats over 30 btw.

Hit the kill switch..... What would you do if the throttle on your car got stuck? No way to pull it back up, no idle cable.
