Default Clutch Cable Fitting Leaking At Tranny Cover?

Hey guys, Is it normal to have a small leak around the cable fitting on the clutch cable? I noticed that the MoCo has installed a mesh type material around the cable as it leaves the tranny cover and continues under the bike. Is this the catch any small leakage that comes from this area? Or do I need to replace a seal around the cable fitting?

Thanks, J

I cant remember if there is an o-ring on that..
When you tighten be careful it is easy to break that thread right off. (done it)
The covering is just there so the cable housing doesnt get messed up rubbing the frame and such I think..

there is an oring on the fitting, u could try to snug it up but doubtful, id replace the oring as it probobly cost about 25 cents and u can just about any were,(auto parts store) and is pretty easy to replace.

The mesh is to protect the clutch cable housing from abrasion and heat. The cable has to be removed (trans cover off) in order to replace the o ring.

A friend of mine removed the clutch cable from the lever. He loosened the cable at the tranny and put the oring on the cable and slide it all the way down.Did not remove the tranny cover at all.No Leaks.

Thats sounds a lot better than taking of the damn tranny cover. I will see if I cant go that route.
