Default FINALLY home (1st pics and 1st wave of mods)

Well, at long last (and I mean LONG, been working on getting my '09 Bob, but my haggling and pickiness made it take 4 months, but I got what I wanted, price was right, and I even managed to get my wish of a bike with a similar "birth date" as myself (1 day apart!!).

Here are pics of m,y first wave of minor mods, mostly just wrinkle black cover replacements and a sissy bar and front end mounted bag but more will be getting blacked out soon!!!

BTW, for anyone interested, Motherwell's 7" solo fender mounted rack, will NOT fit '09 Bobs due to the height of the tail light. Anyone interested in a brand new one wrinkle coated (black) that hasn't been used, please PM me.

Well, here come the pics, all opinions welcome even though my mods are a bit subtle. Going for sort of an inverted version of the 08 and older scheme. Not doing the whole engine black, kinda digging the black on silver contrast. Have a transmission cover and crankshaft cover in wrinkle black that will go on as soon as my pipes get swapped...

Well, here's my girl... Bobara!!!!

I must say after my first short 100 mile ride, I am soooo glad I made this bike mine. Been riding a 1993 Honda CBR900rr for 10 years this is a whole different animal in the best of ways. I have ridden all kinds of bikes, but never a Harley, believe it or not. I am really sold, the sound, even with the stock exhaust, the solid feeling trannny and the top notch looks and build quality, handling, comfort.......... Just awe struck...

My test ride bike must have had low tire pressure since when I took my test ride, the bike felt a bit wobbly and unstable, which I though I would have to get used to, but as soon as I was 1 block down the road, I determined that mine is truly as stable as it can get, and handles turns so much better than I ever imagined a cruiser could...

I don't think I have ever been so comfortable during or after a ride in my life. The mini apes really top off the whole comfort thing, and damn does this thing look bad *** going down the road!!!!! (Happened to catch a peek at myself reflected in a building, LOL)

lose those frame stickers- you don't need them and it'll do wonders for the way your bike will look.

They usually refer to the 'piston housing' as cylinders ...

The cylinders (or 'jugs') and heads on the '09 are powdercoated black.

Unlike most other models and the previous years' Street Bobs, the edges of the fins on the cylinders and heads appear to retain the powdercoating (usually, they have a machined appearance which removes the powdercoat from the edges of the fins).

The '08 and earlier Street Bobs had black powdercoated engine case, primary and transmission; so, the silver powdercoating on those parts of the '09 model is a stylistic departure. [Stirred up something of a controversy among forum members when the '09 model was first introduced.]

[The shortened fender and the 'Sparto' style taillight were rather controversial features, as well.]
