Great thread Tom! Lots'a good info, documentation, "how-to", pics, etc...

I will say that was there when This bike was tuned and rode it afterwards. As I said then, this is THE fastest/quickest Harley I've ever ridden.

I have basically the same HQ120(121) motor (only 575 cams @ 10.5:1) in my RG and it is a STUPID fast Bagger. It's also built for daily riding and cross country trips. I've had it on one 4k+ mile ride and it was awesome. In fact, it averaged 46mpg, with a high of 50 ~ at elevation.

As far as shaping valve guides go.... Doug has been doing this since the late 60's and has tried everything (at least once). If it were of value to the build (as ordered - or ever?), I am sure it would be done.

Regarding Ed @ www.thedynodifference.com, I know of several folks that have traveled a good way (to Dallas) for his work like: Pittsburg, PA., Dodge City, KS., San Antonio, Houtson, etc. etc.....

I have just installed a Baker six speed on my Dyna and I love it. No more Vibrations in 6 gear. The gear ratio are much better then my old 5 speed which I have for sale. I also installed 34 tooth spocket on the transmission which give me a 3000 rpm at 90 miles an hour in sixth. I believe a stroke motor run better with taller gears. Just my two cent.

When I was at the strip, there were a couple running,
and they are FAST... I think in the 9s??
and around the curves, I doubt as well...

the variable pressure clutch *feels* like stock.
but, I believe the purpose is designed for prevent slippage.
faster it spins, the counterweights are thrown outward,
clamping the discs and plates tighter and tighter.
That's how I understand it.

No problem with the belt.
As I understand, keep it properly adjusted.
Too tight..... you're gonna break it.
Too loose..... you're gonna peel the teeth off.

LOL!! Damn Mud, you sure know how to make people envy you!! First the motor...then the girl!! LOL!!
I've been thinking seriously about a Hillside build....but you've got me thinking I should definitely check out Headquarters before I do anything. I've never seen anything negative about Headquarters...everything has always been very positive...so I'll definitely check them out before I do anymore motor work.

these are all hard miles. That's my normal riding style.

Before this motor was a 121, it was built as a hard-hitting 95.

I'm more than satisfied with what I have. It's a monster that obeys.
