OK Mud, I used to respect what you said on this forum, now I hate you,J/K. You are the snake in the garden, tempting us with forbidden fruit, you've raised the bar one too many times now, how the hell are us mere mortals supposed to keep up?! Let me put it a different way,how do we define happiness with our bikes, is it emperical(experience) or something inside us, some factor that needs more. Maybe an anology will clarify, I'm lost in the desert, I'm parched and hungry, I stumble upon an oasis, bedraggled and near death, they take mercy upon me and throw me a scrap of bread and some stale water(stage I) I am totally happy and my life has been spared. Now a rich man walks into the same oasis, and he is given the same scrap of bread and stale water, he is outraged, he had been expecting steak and fine wine(stage III 113"or more) and he is totally unhappy. Mud, what you are doing is showing people pictures of steak and goblets of fine wine, when they have been happy with stale bead, you are contributing to the unhappiness of many owners, I know you are trying to be helpfull, but think of the unhappiness you are spreading. Hopefully, by now you realize this has all been all in fun, but there is a very small grain of truth to it. Peace.

Thanks berck. appreciate it.
you and I and chandler know that 2 seconds is way slow for the first 60 feet.
every little bit here adds up or subtracts quick at the other end.
been to the strip twice this year, and a few times in 1967.
had to ask how the lights work,
and I need to learn to work the clutch better off the line,
and learn the optimum shift point,
etc etc.
gearing is through the stock belt
one front sprocket
two rear sprockets
and two chains are soon to come
already have a slick mounted on a spare wheel
I do not like uniCycles, so wheelie bars are also on the list.
It's only money. Right??
Lenny, is yours a 131 Jim's motor?? refresh my memory.
What cams are you running??
Doug profiles his grinds and specs the packages to the individual's needs/wants.
If you look back at the comparison sheets in posting # 1,
that other 120 HQ motor is in a Touring Machine
note how the torque peaks at about 160 around 2300 rpm then starts dropping off at 2750
my motor is at 138 at 2300 then peaks at 150 at 2850 then starts dropping off at 3300
gotta get the heavy machine moving earlier
at 5250 both motors are at 116 tq
The Touring cam and other components are called out for the purpose.
There's another Texas HQ Touring build here (107 inchs) making 136 torque and 111 HP.
torque peaks on that one at around 2300
Here's my HQ cam specs.
Had these same cams in my 95" HQ build....

I'll round up more soon.
everything is for sale r00k.
money talks...........
need to hire you as a publicist chandler.
the superlatives are debatable though. ask any of my exes.
as far as getting out of the hole........
funny,
first nine months of my life I was doing all I could to get out of the hole.
Now, I've spent nearly my entire life trying to get back in it.
Don't know Savage. Time will tell.
I have heard that the stock TwinCam motors will go 100K and more, easy.
chad, Doug at HQ is a master when it comes to cam functions, pistons etc
I do believe a main factor in his equations is proper velocity from in to out.
he's been doing the high performance HD motors for 35 years or so.
I'm writing a couple books Brian.
Hang on for a few years, I'll send you some copies. Hot off the press.
mad, I hate you too.
all part of my charm.
ask anyone
I'm an awful nice guy
just awful.

I got rid of my old built Sporty and bought my Street Bob so I could just get on and ride. I build muscle cars and I love building engines, but the custom Sportster engine was more headache than it was worth at the time. That was the best sounding bike I ever heard though. I still regret selling it. Are you encountering any tuning issues? I'm a meticulous freak like what you've shown with your build. Those heads look great. Why didn't they shape the valve guide at all? I'm not downing your build-it's a beautiful work of art-just wondering if they didn't find any additional flow by trying it. And I agree....the forum needs ALOT more building stuff like this. Keep up the good work dude.
