Unless you have a leak, it shouldn't be low, but if you are concerned, just pull the derby cover and check it. Takes about 5 minutes and then you have peace of mind.

Regards,

Bill

Yeah.......plus if you even think it's low for any reason might as well change it. Most of the primarys hold only about 1qt of oil.

No oil spot on the driveway. Seriously, it would have to get really low before you notice it. TwinCam Dynas hold 20-24 ounces in the primary. If there is no leak, it will not go down between services, but take the cover off and look inside with a flashlight. If the lower part of your primary chain is in oil, then you are getting lubed. The service manual explains the exact level but jiffy stands vary a lot so it is not rocket science. 20-24 ounces will do the trick.

Me thinxs you may be hearing the primary chain slopping and need to adjust the primary tensioner, if it was leaking, you should definitely know it, things would be very messy----jack just a guess tho

My 06 TC 88 Dyna takes 32oz in the primary. Says so in both manuals. I just changed it about an hour ago.

I think Derby Cover is an excellent opening for adding lube. If they had a fill level opening, I think its bolt would scrape our boots when we put the jiffy stand down. My Jiffy stand was interesting to find at first.
