Both are good bikes. If you like the black and chrome motor go with
Low Rider, if not the pluses for the Custom are a bigger tank and $2100
to add a tach, lower shocks, highway pegs and still have money to buy
other stuff. But then again the Low Rider still makes sales.

A lowrider is a superglide, lowered shocks and springs, more chrome, pullback risers, fancier paint job. Basically a fancy Superglide. A streetbob is a blacked out Superglide with apes.

Has anybody listed the diffrences including changing to more of a rake 1.5 degrees in trees, diffrent tank, a two tone paint job, black engine, etc to come up what it would cost? $2100 is not very much money in the world of Harley Davidson. In any case you buy the bike you want. I have never looked back. I like all the Dyna's can't go wrong with any model.

There is no rhyme or reason to Harley's pricing--on anything--from the perspective of the consumer.

In 2007 the FXDC had a MSRP of $14,645 and the Low Rider was $15,795. Then in 08 Harley dropped the price of the FXDC to $12,995 and on the FXDL to $14,995. Suddenly the FXDC became the "more bang for your buck" Dyna and the difference in price vs the FXDL was now $2000 instead of $1100. Now, for 09, the MSRP for the FXDC is $12,999 and the FXDL is $15,099.

before 2006 the FXDL actually had a different frame than the FXD/C. Had 4 deg more rake in the frame itself. they are going to charge more for a model (different frame) that they make less of. now that 4 models share the same frame - the price difference makes less sense from a cost standpoint, but as one poster mentioned - in HD land - it doesn't take much to get to $2000.

I think the Street Bob is the closest to the Low Rider.. almost every mechanical spec is identical. Low Rider has more rake & shiney stuff.

H-D charges 1K more for just a black engine over a silver one. The other grand is kinda hard to add up. More chrome, tach, highway pegs, riser and bar setup, polished rotors, 1.5 deg rake, and you still don't find 2K. Really just boils down to the lowrider has more of "what people want" so the moco charges more than it's worth cause people will pay for it. IMHO they took the black motor from the streetbob because it was moving people from the night train to the bob and they were loosing profit.

Smile Love Mine

i walked in the dealership, told the sellsman i didn't need any help and the FXDL won out. i like the street glide but wanted a strong sreet machine. i think the paint is killer / two- tone red & black. great chrome job and just great classic looks. i have three friends with dyna glides and they just aren't as finished. girlie bike WTF.
