Bottom line is the Badlander is not built for comfort. Just hang on to your current seat for those long rides. I'll get the seat rework write up in like a week or so.

i just find the stock seat unsightly. i want something that tends to follow the lines of the bike a little more. kinda show off/accentuate the bobtail instead of bulking up the rear. if i could find a good deal on a corbin or mustang or such i would get one but i just cant find a used one for a decent price on a college budget and god forbid a new one

Badlander looks good, but if your going to go over 50 miles go back to your original seat. I had a badlander for one ride.

Hogrida is right. You can add gel inserts, play with the height, and put a new cover. Just make sure you put a plastic barrier over the foam. It keeps the water out like the OEM seat does. A powerful electric stapler will allow you to retack it. An uphostery shop will charge about $50 to do it for you. GL

Most 2 up (factory HD) seats go for $100 plus on ebay. Most solo seats go for $40-$50. I charge at least $150 for a recover if the foam is good. I use better material though. The factory seat vinyl is toilet paper thin. I'd pay the $75 for the better seat. Probably sell it for the same price later and yes the comfort factor is bad but some people ride them like that for years. Every butt is different. Maybe you could get a custom seat made later using that pan. "An uphostery shop will charge about $50 to do it for you." That's why there aren't a lot of upholstery shops left. That's what we charged in 1980.
