Adrian, I had a similar problem with a new set of Kury Iso's. Well, I didn't loose a torx screw, but I put a pretty nifty kink in my idle cable (different story). I found that there was slight increase in the diameter of the handlebar that was causing the problem so I played with it for about 30 minutes or so. This included torquing it down several times only to find that it was still binding. Ultimately I just held the covers in place with one hand and moved the grip further and further down the bar until it stopped binding. It ended up being about a quarter of an inch down the bar before they quit binding. Good luck.

I'm having the same problems with my Nostalgic grips from Harley, as well. I'm not addressing it now because it's too damn cold. But when things warm up, i'm gonna get in there and see what's what. I have new Barnett cables installed so it's not a lube issue. Something is up with how these are molded, or something.

I had the same issue with my Road King. I had installed new bars and I thought it was the diameter of the bars so I went after them with emery cloth. I fooled around with it for weeks and then I decided to messed with the cable adjustment and viola the sticking problem was gone. Some how each time I put it back together I went too tight.

Well i took mine apart again and had a good look.
Inside the grip (on HD grips ) there was a couple mould lines in the plastic.
I noticed they were rubbing more surface area than my OEM grips.
Which was slowing my return cable .
So i got some fine emery cloth and rubbed off what i could reach inside..
I also used a lubricant on the bar and in the channel of the cables..
Works like a damn dow..........

I installed a set of Iso Grips today. What I lost was one of those brass ferrules. Anyway, I had trouble with the grip not snapping back freely. After futzing with it for a while, I loosened the clamp for the lever/mirror assembly and moved the entire assembly out about 1/8" toward the end of the bar. Works like a charm now.
