I don't think you use axle grease. I'm pretty sure you simply use anti-seize lube.

You should'nt have to grease anything! the bearings are already sealed with grease in them.the axle should be cleaned and put in dry!

Yeah, you do that.....Sooner or later, you will end up with a BF'n hammer trying to knock you axle out. The factory doesn't grease the axles. Water will get in, they will rust, and the axle will stick to the bearings.

Anti-seize is what I use like the other guys. Grease will work fine if that is all you have on hand.

I just got done replacing rusted/galled bearings in my Ultra. I agree with xxxflhrci. I used anti-seize when I put mine back together.

You may want to go to stainless steel axle's if you get a lot of water where you ride.they make things E-Z in the long run.

my axle had a white lubricant, grease, compound of some sort when I removed it the first time, so it had whatever harley put on it from the factory. so there is no special stuff, it's just anti-seize lubricant?

found the answer.......thanks for the help guys!

Default Axle Grease ?

I put teflon high temp grease on mine. It's good for 600 degrees then I coated it with Permatex high temp anti seize. Had it out a couple of times since with no problem but always coat it with the high temp anti seize.
