Yup. Me too, when I was kid. Plus, I had a dad who rode a Harley (long before I was even thought about) and I grew up listening to his stories of his friends and the Harleys and Indians they rode.

When I ride, I mainly cruise the back roads and I always get a kick out of kids playing ball or whatever in their front yards and seeing them stop and watch me rumble by, usually giving me a wave and sometimes a thumbs up.

There is something primal in that v-twin rumble that strikes a chord in the soul of young and old alike, something that no rice rocket screaming by can ever do.

Yeah i agree with all of you......
Last year i was at a rally. We had to do this parade thing through this small town,
There had to be 500 kids on those streets hollerin with thumbs up !!
Which reminded me of myself when i was that age..

I've had many bikes through the years and it's always been the Harleys that have given me the most satisfaction. Good thread.

I bought a 2001 Shadow just to ride to work mainly because I got tired of cleaning all the dust and dirt off of my road king every day after work. (I park inside a railroad terminal) Well years ago the same model and size shadow used to feel good to me, and I always said Hondas were generally good bikes, cheaper made, but good. After owning and riding Harleys for a few years, and then riding that Honda again, I hate to say it, but it felt like a tinkertoy to me now. Really felt flimsy and weak. Then I thought, "could I really picture myself riding this again?" So I said hell with it and bought the Street Bob, perfect solution to my dirt problem, a flat black bike. And none of that chintsy flimsy feeling the Honda has. So I'm selling the Honda some spring, and riding my dyna to work and my road king whenever.

The dyna is just a helluva lot easier to keep clean. Both bikes have their own distinct style, I love the dark look of the Dyna, and love the bling of my king. Perfect blend I think, having two Harleys.

Well perfect would be 3 or 4, but can't afford that right now.
