How long are these mounts supposed to last and how do you know when they start to go?

my bike is a 01 fxdl and has 54000 miles on it..my mounts are still good....what makes you think mounts are bad ? they usually lasy a long time...has any oil gotten on them from changing the oil filter ? cuz that is not a good thing, the oil makes the rubber in the mount really soft and breaks it down

Yes oil has definatly gotten on the mounts in the past...it sux cuz theres not much room to get in there and prevent it from happening...
