Exclamation Need Help With Speedometer Wiring

I have a 1999 Wide Glide Speedo. part #6717899A and was wondering if anyone can help me with identifying the pin out in the back.

I was given this but it doesn't seem to work. I think this must be for a newer speedo...

1 - Accessory power (orange/white stipe)
2 - trip switch (grey)
3 -
4 - check engine light (black/yellow stripe)
5 - security light (brown)
6 -
7 - speed sensor ground (ground to VSS. Black on VSS)
8 - speed sensor power (12v+ to VSS. Red on VSS)
9 - speed sensor signal input (VSS Output. White on VSS)
10 - GROUND (black)
11 - trip switch (grey)
12 - speed output (for turn signal module) white/green stripe)

and was told the pin arrangement for this (looking in the connector with the speedo on it's face)...

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe a wiring schematic for this or something?

ide have to refer to my manual which is at work right now,.. but i can say the color codes are the same for my bike( a 2007 fxd) and a bike i bought a speedo riser from (2000 sprortster).. this leads me to beleive the color codeing is standard from bike model to bike model... maybe someone with there manual handy can chime in..

I have a clymer manual but it only shows colors. not pin position on the speedo. hopefully someone has a manual that shows this?

this is supposedly from an 03 dyna... so it's obvious to me that the pins change every so often.

1 trip
2 security
3 pursuit
4 check engine
5 data bus
6 trip
7 output speed
8 ground
9 vss white
10 vss black
11vss red
12 accessory (power)

and i'm not 100% sure my sources are trustworthy on pin numbering

one person told me
1 2 3 4 5 6
7 8 9 10 11 12

another told me
1 2 3 4 5 6
12 11 10 9 8 7

and this is no surprise... the stealer told me they can't help me.

Default Speedo wiring

Check the following against wire color & pin connection; this is from a '95 FXWG HD manual schematic for the factory speedometer:

White/Green=PIN 1
Green/Yellow=PIN 2
Blue=PIN 3
Tan=PIN 4
Orange/White=PIN 5
White=PIN 6
Brown=PIN 7
Black (TO PANEL LIGHTS)=PIN 8
Violet=PIN 9
Black (TO SPEEDO)=PIN 10

However, you list a 12-pin connector so here's one from my '97 FLSTC:

O/W=1
W/GN
BN
W
V
6 & 7 NOT USED
TN=8
GN/Y
O
BK (TO PANEL LIGHTS)
BK (TO SPEEDO)

Maybe between the two, it'll help. Put in the HD speedo/tach combo/one-piece on my '97 FLSTC and, even with the instructions, I had to figure out what wire went to where and did what, so be prepared (and keep a diagram of what you did unlike me)!

i have those diagrams in the electrical section of my factory service manual. also, when i was looking for a speedometer, i was told that the only thing that changed from year to year was the connections.

Thanks for replying robzuc but I'm pretty sure that softail and dyna speedos are wired differently. I believe the softail speedo has it's 12+ o/w wire connected to the ignition switch whereas the dynas don't. And the wiring changes every couple years. I don't have some of the colors you mentioned above. I specifically need wiring for a 1999-2000 speedo. I have a schematic for a 2003 but it didn't work.
