fade on black denim paint

RE: fade on black denim paint
I just bought the paint from HD to paint my custom rear fender. It is a single stage catalyzed urethane paint.
Basically sigle stage means it has no clear coat, catalyzed means you add a hardening agent that makes the paint cure faster and more durable, and urethane is what most new OEM products are painted with. It is a very durable type of paint.
However,
being a "flat" type paint, it must have some type of flattening agent to kill the gloss. This usually makes paint somewhat porous so not as resistant to chemicals, wear, etc..
Being a urethane it should be durable but probably not quite as much so as a glossy paint. If you keep your bike in the garage and don't use harsh chemicals to wash it, it shouldn't fade significantly.
OEM's have used similar paints in the past without major durability problems. Flat balck hoods on say '69 Mach 1 Mustangs, Mopars, mid 80's 5.0L Mustangs, etc.
