Default Crash bars for footboarded Dynas

All these posts about dropped bikes is making me paranoid, so I'm thinking about ordering an engine guard/crash bar for my bike. Problem is, I've put the FXDP footboards on so I'll have to get the crash bar that was made for the pre-06 Dyna models that came with footboards.

Question: Is there anything about how the engine guard mounts to the frame tubes that would prevent this guard from fitting on 09 bike? (Obviously, it should mount to the footboard forward brackets with no problem.)

Gary,

There should be a top mount hole between the two down tubes if the 09 frame is the same as my 07SB. As you said bottom mounts to the footboard brackets.

Here is a front shot of the bar for FXDP kit.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. I was concerned that the new Dyna frame may be different enough that the hole would be in the wrong place for these crash bars. But if it fits your 07 it will fit an 09. No changes to the frame from 06 to 09.

This won't be a popular mod on the forum, but highway pegs on the crash bar with the boards is hard to beat for function. You can always black it out to hide it a bit.

you will need the bars that fit with foward controls, they are little wider and taller for more room, should fit with boards to. jackyl

No, I need the bars in that picture, which are for Dynas with footboards.

Gary, just put one on my 06 lowrider and it fits great with the footboards.....buddy has an 05 with mids and a crash bar...it is a bit narrower and looks a bit better in my mind but this looks real good too! And a great spot to put highway pegs - cheers.
