Default Performance machine calipers

I am considering buying a front caliper to work with an aftermarket 300mm Lyndall rotor (I have a 07 Wide Glide which comes with a 300mm stock rotor). I am considering 4 piston two pad calipers from brembo (QTM/brembo) and performance machine. In terms of looks I like PM the best, and these are also a bit cheaper. I did some research and people seem to suggest that both perform equally well, and much better than the stock calipers. Do you have any suggestions/comments on choosing between these two?

Then I saw this:

http://www.bikernet.com/garage/PageV...sp?PageID=1882

where they compare after market 6 piston calipers (so not exactly what I am looking for) to the stock HD caliper, and it seems that the PM calipers perform worse than stock! Comments? The test was carried by Germans and the best caliper was found to be a German made one (Muller). Are the results from this test to be taken seriously? Do you know of any other tests comparing different calipers for our rides? I want to improve looks, but not at the cost of performance.

I am currently running 4-piston PM calipers (F and R) on my '97 Wide Glide. Based upon my riding conditions, it appears that my PM's are better than the stock brakes. I did not look at Brembo (I think I assumed that they didn't make any, but I also didn't look).

I do not know about the PM 6-piston. Brembo has always had a great reputation and work well on my Ducati.

I agree with you on being skeptical of this test run by Muller and wow, Muller was the best.

What about contacting PM and asking if they have any information on their brakes (e.g. comparison by an independent third-party) and what their performance characteristics are. Get the same info from Brembo and see what the difference is.

+2 on PM, I'm running front and rear 4 piston calipers and they are far better than the stock one's.

According to PM, the 6 piston won't work with the 300mm (11.8) rotors, so you can take that out of the equation.
Check out Hawg Halters. They're a very reputable company and I believe they offer a 6 piston that will work with the 300mm rotor up front.
Or, you can contact Fab Kevin. He's offering a kit to adapt a Tokico sport bike caliper to the new 49mm front ends on dynas....if you have the right wheel!

Greenohawk69 - thanks! I'll try to see whether they have any reviews on the PM website about their brakes. About the QTM/brembos (I am looking at the chrome ones) the only bad thing I've heard about them was from a guy that posted on another harley forum, see here: http://www.*****************/forums/to...-not-good.html. QTM get brembo brakes they chrome them and make adapters, but there might be some issues about their chrome job. I would love to hear from people that are currently running these calipers.

red devil, thanks, PMs are the ones I like best.

last saint, thanks, though I am not looking for 6 piston calipers. I'll check HH out. Do you believe they are better than Brembos or PM?

BTW Has anyone heard about axiomcycles.com? They seem to have good prices. Have you ever dealt with them? Experiences?
