Default FXD Speedo/Idiot lights relocation PART 2 lots of pics

OK I finally worked out my solution for mounting my speedo and idiot lights to go along with my T-bars. I ended up buying two speedo brackets, I didn't like how either of them looked so I ended combining them into one. I cut off the speedo cup from this one.

This a mount from cycle performance but it was too bulky to begin with and ended up cutting the lower part off.

Next i drilled and tapped the t-bar mount and bolted up the speedo cup. Cutting all the excess of the cycle performance mount allowed me to tuck the speedo up nicely to the bars and give good tank clearance.

Next was to drill the tank console to fit the idiot light cluster. Lots of measuring and some templates.

Here is the idiot light harness which I had to extend and modify a little to fit. I also had to cut the bracket around the fuel gauge for clearance.

And here's some pics of it all together. This is just a test fit, everything seems to work and fit well. The pics don't show it well but there is tons of clearance between the tank and the speedo is in the perfect viewing height/position.

Very nice take on the speedo relocate issue.
I believe that's the first time I have seen someone put the idiot lights in the console like that on an FXD.
Very nice job.

Great job ... a suggestion that might improve the finished appearance is to see if the chrome center cover from a Sportster might fit and conceal the wiring between the bars ... doesn't look bad, but just an idea that might dress it up a little.
