Braider Fuel Line crossover leakage?'

I've got the Magnum Chromite II crossover in my cart @ Dennis Kirk along with my new cams and front brake line.
I replaced my fuel X-over when re-installing the tank and one of the hose clamps I used backed off and I walked out in the garage to a puddle of gas on the floor. I figured the fancy one had better clamps, they are compression fittings?

I had one on my '08 Low Rider and within just a few weeks I started seeing rust where the unpainted surface was exposed. I don't understand why HD can't use the same tank design as the touring models - they don't have the exposed crossover.

I am glad I read this. I had never heard that before and recently got one of the clearance rack at the dealership. I haven't put it on yet. Having second thoughts now. But... I am about to repaint my tins. I might tell the guy to only mask the tube at the end so there won't be too much exposed metal.
