I used the PIAA Super White and it lasted about a year and a half. Switched to the Sylvania mentioned here it it lasted only a few months. Just replaced it with the PIAA which I purchased from my dealer through Bikers Choice. More than twice as expensive, but seems to last longer. I run my headlight on bright night and day.

Does anyone know the absolute brightest upgrade? I bought the PIAA about two years ago and it is still working; however, I don't think it's bright enough. It does cover a bigger area than the stock one, but I drive a lot of freeways that aren't lit up very well. I would like a much brighter bulb than the 60/55w. I'm also considering adding extra drive lights.

The UltraSilverStars have a color temp of just over 4000, in H4 form factor...

Yes, HID will give you more light at a higher color temp.

Is this the PIAA that people are talking about here that fits a Harley?

silverstars burn out on a regular basis, most often when you are somewhere you can't get another one.

Yup, they have an expected life of something like 6 to 8 months. I know from experience..... but I still use them. I just carry spares. Basically 15 bucks a bulb.... no biggee

I read an article in this months AIM about motorcycle lighting. March issue, pg 38, "100 Years of Lighting". The article said NOT TO USE an automotive style headlamp. 1) the alignment tabs were located differently between a motorcycle and an automobile; 2) the lighting pattern was different between the two; and 3) the auto bulb did not hold up well to a motorcycle's vibration.

Some of you might want to read that article as it was informative. Not trying to knock you guys for trying to save a few bucks at the local auto store.
