It's that we share the very heart of American motorcycling. It's what has spoken to me for decades....

Some folks like 'em and some folks dont!!

Sorry .... that was too good a set-up not to take it!!

Seriously .... A bike is like a good dog .... always happy to see you and always makes you smile. Folks that dont have 'em dont understand.

My wife and I have an understanding. I let her do what she wants to the house with no questions, and she lets me do what I want to the bike with no questions. kind of just "works out" for us.

Who cares if anyone else "gets it." I get it and that is all that matters to me.

Mine too, for the most part ... my only ground rule was "don't Holly Hobby up the place!" [How's that for an obscure reference ... those who know it will understand me ....]

Most, I think, have understood my intended meaning to refer to one's spouse or significant other. Some don't have that same frame of reference; some have spouses who do get it.

I agree with your thought to the extent that strangers or casual acquaintences (who don't share our viewpoint) do not make enough of a difference in our lives to waste our effort or resources to try ....

Which really brought me to my conclusion about indulgence .... Although in some senses of the word, I don't think it is that appropriate--meaning, I don't, or shouldn't have to, feel guilty for taking pleasure in my interest in bikes.

Some great thoughts fellas ... thanks for posting and keep 'em coming.

My wife doesn't care as long as it's not too much at once financially. She loves going for rides and stuff, but to her a bike is a bike...she doesn't really look at it beyond that. She understands that I'm giddy as all hell every time I put a new part on, but she doesn't understand it. The only say she's had in what goes on it was the couple things she needed for her to be able to ride with me, and even then I tried to meet her needs while keeping it from steering away from my vision for the bike.

I hear alot of 'why did you pay so much for a bike?' or 'you are just buying a brand name' or 'harleys are overrated' And it usually comes from somebody who doesnt ride a motorcycle anyways. So i just say 'if you were really committed to riding, you wouldnt say that,And if you were serious about riding, you would already be on a Harley rather than talking about one. It's a sarcastic statement for sure, cuz i dont really think a brand of bike determines whether or not you are a serious rider, but it usually shut up a retard who doesnt know what they are talking about. Hey Priest,i see your bike is in front of a sign that says 'SUPPO' you on a navy base? which one?

If you look closely, you'll see above it the words "USS FORD" with crests in the upper right and lower left corners ... homeport: NAVSTA Everett, WA. And you??
