RE: Paint The Air Cleaner Back Plate?
I also noticed this when I first installed my stage 1, and immediately went online to see other bikes, if I could see the silver backplate. It really does stand out on the street bob engine. I would also like to paint this and would have chosen black if I knew that was an option. Does the Arlen Ness Sucker one have it in black or is it just not as visible as the SE one.

Here are two pics that show the backing plate. I can deal with it for now. May go to the chrome one down the road.

I like that. I like it a lot. I don't think I would chrome it. Where did you get the cover plate?
You can get a rain cover from K&N, it's called a "Drycharger" and works really well.

The die-cast doesn't look bad on your's, but the engine area on my Low Rider is all black or chrome, so it stands out a lot more. I can almost hear the spray can rattle now! Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the compliment.
The cover plate is the Skull H-D a/c insert. Fits perfectly over the S/E filter. (I did have to use a spacer as the stock bolt is a little long)

Hey PaulJr,
Did you paint the entire back plate? Even the intake part that the air filter fits over?

I painted the whole cover, cleaned it very well then sprayed it using High Temp. BBQ Paint 2 coats.
