Rust forming in chrome hardware

Rust forming in chrome hardware
Just replaced all the hardware on the engine and tranny with chrome hardware. I see that rust is forming in some of them. I cleaned them out, but what can I do to keep this from happening. If I wash, blow off and ride it right away to dry it up better would that help? Any suggestions?

RE: Rust forming in chrome hardware
The problem is that the chrome plating is pretty thin, especially in allen holes. Using tools will cause the chrome to crack. Once it's cracked, water gets in there and causes rust. Squirt them with PB Blaster about an hour ot two before washing. It's a good penetrating oil and will get in under the chrome plate and prevent rust. You'll have to repeat that process every so often.
Generally, I don't use chrome plated fastners, I use stainless. Chrome looks better by a long shot. But I'm kind of lazy and don't want to do the maint.
