Word of caution............... The HD frame adaters for the Dyna MAY fail. I had my WG on the jack doing some work and was putting some pretty good lateral pressure on the scooter, twisting it sideways a bit. The orange soft plastic part of the adapters is "TAPED", that's right, taped to the hard black plastic bases. The tape seperated, allowing the two parts to shift, causing the bike to flop over. Fortunately, the safety straps were in place and the whole thing didn't go *** over tea kettle. Was a little un-nerving getting the whole thing down off the jack alone without dropping on the floor. Serious "pucker factor" kicked in.

ALWAYS USE THE SAFETY STRAPS. Save my A** this time.

Think next project will be building "NEW" adapters out of angle steel, or going for a jack that doesn't need adapters, such as the J&S, or maybe buying a ramp type lift instead. If the GOOD jack is $400 and a ramp lift is $1K, the ramp is looking more appealing all the time.
Had the exact failure you did. Haven't decided if I'm going to try to find a better way to keep the parts together or give up and use 2 x 4's like others have suggested.

I bought a jack for my (EVO) Dyna 4 years ago from Northern Tool and I've never used tie downs. I've rolled the thing all over my rough garage floor with no problems (other than the jack's wheels getting stuck in a void of concrete).

Other than me (or someone else) knocking the bike off the jack, what else can happen not using the straps?

Here's a pic with my Wide Glide sitting on a J&S Jack. The jack support rails are 17" wide overall and 13" wide inside the rails. They are pitbull's biggest competition. The pitbull has a longer base and raises up to 25". The J&S raises up to 18" and is a bit cheaper. Either one is a top shelf jack.

How wide are the rails on the sears red and yellow?

Another issue with them, if you forget to remove them the jiffystand WILL hit the ground and not move up. Don't ask how I know.
