Pros & Cons of a Dyna
#11
I think I wanna go party with Joe....when it warms up. Screw that Chicago winter wind.
Ya know, the only real downside is storage when you're out for the long haul. Although you paid a premium for storage with your street glide. What was it about the street glide you didn't like? It can't be the size. My ol buddy is like 5'7" and 140 lbs and he rides a goldwing which is much larger and taller than the street glide. Sounds more like a confidence problem with you, no offense.

The Dynas are the lightest and probably the quickest and best handling of the big twins. That said, they have some handling problems that may or may not be a big deal to you depending on how hard you ride. They actually have less cornering clearance than a bagger and the rubber mounted engine/swingarm combo causes a wobble in long high speed corners.I've heard the baggers have this same issue.

SC-Longhair mentioned about the size of the bike and a possible confidence problem. That's not the issue at all. My SG fit me really well (I had a Corbin Dual Touring seat with the nose trimmed to make for easier footing). I've ridden Road Kings, Road Glides, and Ultras as well, and the SG was by far the best bet for me from the touring line.
I really loved the bike (I had the 1st SG that my dealer ever sold in July/Aug 2006), and only sold it to make financial room for another expensive hobby (boating).
My thought on looking into the Dyna is really just for the "something different" factor. I've had 2 softails and 1 tourer...never a Dyna. So I thought I'd get input from you guys.
I rode a Street Bob in the past, but it was several years ago when they first were introduced, and it was a relatively short ride. But I do like the idea of an easy handling, more nimble bike relative to the Street Glide.
I wish I could go for a test ride now...but I live in Rochester, NY...so I am doing the next best thing and figuring out what my next toy will be.
Oh...and I really like Tony P's comment about "Light, fast for a Harley, low cost compared to the rest of the line. If you like to blow money on mods, good model to do it with."
