This might sound crazy, but do you think it would be possible to put a speedway instruments tach inside the fuel gauge housing? I never use it to check my fuel anyway.
This thing is so small you can put it almost anywhere. Most people put it on the master cylinder, but I wanted mine in direct line of sight and since the FatBob had such a flat spot between the risers, it seemed like the logical place.
