I just ordered 16" apes, m-6, 2 new tires, 1" under kickstand, kickstand extension and a new personalized Maryland plate. I got ( FXDCI ) SWEET!

I need to order cables now, I have a question for you guys?

How do I determine the length? I was thinking 8 over, what do you think?

You'll be glad you did. Apes are very much misunderstood by those that don't have them.
Your cable lengths will vary depending on what bars you get, pullback, width, etc.
Either find someone with the exact same bars as you're getting or put the bars on & use some wire to do the mock-up yourself.

Both on my bike & a friends bike we mocked up the cables ourselves to determine the cable lengths & went 2" shorter on the throttle cables than what the indy shop recommended & they fit perfect. He went 16" Ø1 1/4" Chubbys & I have 16" Ø1" Custom Chrome bars.

I went with +6. They work but maybe on the throttle cables +8 would have been better. Actually, +8 on all would be great! As another mentioned, bar heights are not set in stone, 16" does not mean all are 16", so just be careful. You will like it when you get done!!!

 

+8 is the way to go........

 

No offence, but how can you possibly give accurate advise when you have no idea what the width or amount of pullback are on the bars? It really does make a difference.

 

Are your bars 16"s?
