First of all, I want to thank you guys for all the support and kind words when I thought I was going to Afghanistan. But thanks to THE SH*TIEST dentist the air force has ever seen, I am not medically cleared to deploy. I guess he didn't know that you have to drill a cavity out before you do a filling. He just plastered right over the damned decay! Now a small cavity has turned into a root canal and I can't deploy until it's fixed. This is all after I jumped through hoops to out-proccess the base and cancelled my promotion test. The wife is happy though.

Get your root canal and then volunteer for TCN Escort duty...at Manas or something for the Spring. I've been across the pond 5 times(MORON 2002, QATAR 2003 IRAQ 2003-2004 KUWAIT 2004-2005 KUWAIT 2006 MANAS 2008 and heading to the BAG in a couple of months) since 2002 and I am just a reservist, but I volunteer for EVERYTHING that comes down the pipe...even the TCN duty. AS for the dental care, well I'd rather be shot at than go to the dentist at Eglin. I was in the office for what was supposed to be a MINOR cavity and it took 2 hours. 6 years ago I had a root canal at the same place which took nearly 4 hours. Remember bro, they are ALL just out of Dental school and we are how they learn to "practice".

 

All I can say is the Navy did a good job removing my wisdom teeth.

 

My Army fillings are holding up after 27 years. Did you ask them to just rip the teeth out so you can make the trip?

No I'm pretty sure it was just that particular dentist...not all air force dentists. Plus, the guy was a real *****. And he wanted me to miss my pre deployment briefings so he could "fix it" before anyone found out. Yeah right, I'm gonna explain why I missed a briefing to my bosses so that jackass doesn't look bad??? Nope!
