Default powder paint

hi all, just got back from W H PAINT FINSHERS for a price to powder coat the tank and both mud guards all black for £85 or $125 at todays rate. (do you think thats a good price)
only unsure if it would look ok all black, i would put some harley emblems back on the tank what do you think? only i do not want to do all this and regret it. this is my bike how it looks now if you have a black wg i would like to see a pic. thanks

wow. $125 sounds great to totally change the look of your bike. I say go for it. You cant go wrong with black and you could do some old school pinstripping to set it off, plus maybe a vintage harley tank emblem.

I would not hesitate. I have denim black now, but God forbid some bad happened to my tank, I would powder coat it. I say go for it!

That is a great price. You can always apply vinyl graphics on and then clearcoat over if you think it is too black.

Caution! If you've applied a tank sealer it MUST be removed before powder coating. If not, the sealer will burn out in the oven during the powder coat cure cycle and create a lot of work for you. No tank sealer, no problem.

That price sounds too good to be true, at least around here. What is a comparable price for a paint job? Beware of extra low price quotes as you [usually] get what you pay for when it comes to any type of finishing work. You will benefit from talking to the powder coater ahead of time about the quality you expect and take a good look at some of their work.

Good luck with your project!

Would powdercoating look ok on a tank? Not suggesting it wouldn't, I just thought it was used for trim peices, wheels, etc... didn't realize you get the same "shine" as paint

Of course, denim black (which would be killer) might be a different story anyway...

just curious
