There is just something about that "Flat Black"!! It's not Denim, but it's like a vivid black without the shine! I like it!!

Unless you think you have something to prove, the blue looks pimp. If you paint the battery box, do the whole thing, just the band would be too broken up. Painting the whole thing would add to the retro thing-like an older Harley with more sheetmetal. Do the blue with "Hooligan" in green. Of course opinions are like buttholes....

Edit: After going back and looking, I would leave the whole battery box, including the band, black.

I really like the colored tins with everything else black (but I'm kinda biased) so the blue really got my attention and my vote.

Kind of a toss up for me ... I tend to agree if you go with the blue, maybe try an old two-tone paint job kinda like the new Road King Classic (turquoise and white). There are some old early 60's factory two-tone paint jobs you could emulate ... pay tribute / homage to .....

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread below ....

Roger:

Awesome Shovelhead ... what year was it?

I bought that same pipe, but it wouldn't work with my twincam 88!! Bummed me out ... I'm still looking for that pipe! I think if I can locate a take-off from an '06 Springer Nostalgia .... Hmmmm ....

Mike:

Not sure I agree with the rest of your opinion, but I am definitely on board with a root beer or dak copper ... he11, how about dark beer or amber bock?? Metallic flake with candy coat and a lot of clear to really make it shine ...!

You could strip to bare metal and then polish the $h!t out of em'. That would be cool. Or go with "weeping willow green" from the Martha Stewart collection.

I thought about suggesting chrome his tins--saw a Softail with chrome tins (previously owned by some rock star) at the Hard Rock Cafe in Saipan two years ago. Also saw a Fat Boy in Pattaya, Thailand with chromed tins last summer. Pretty cool stuff ....

You'd have to black out everything else, except maybe the pipes ....
