What made you decide to go with the DOT version? I see its a little thicker than the other one, I've been wanting to order one but looking for a small light weight helemet. Currently I do not wear one, but feeling compelled to purchase one.

Well I used to live in Hawaii and Guam, where there is no helmet law, so I never wore one there too, but now I am in California, and I kinda need to obey the law since I am somewhat in the law enforcement field. Plus don't forget safety man!
Also reading some of the testimonials on the ACC website, this helmet has saved many lives.

I have an ACC helmet as well. I went with the Non-DOT jockey style and love it...excellent fit and finish. We don't have the helmet law here and after talking with the rep at ACC I was really impressed with their Non-DOTs. According to him, the Non-DOT passes every DOT test except the pierce test (where they drop like a 50 lbs spear from 7 feet or something like that) which it barely fails. It passes all the blunt force tests since the shell is made the same as the DOTs just with a different, lower profile energy absorbing liner. He said that most of the testimonials are for the Non-DOT and that's what he rides with. Either way you go, they make a great low profile helmet that will really protect your head...I highly recommend them!

It smells with this odor that I can't explain, I called ACC and they told me that it is the chemicals they used, but that it should go away later.

My Advance Carbon Composites helmet came in after waiting for 3 weeks (due to Bike Week). It is a DOT helmet and is pretty small, no more mushroom head for me! It is made of carbon fiber in gloss black.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago hopefully it will come soon my dog ate the strap and liner of my dot so Ive been wearing a novilty. I got the ear flaps with it to hopefully dampen the wind noise its really starting to get to me.
Dude you better get to colder climates its gonna start warming up soon!!!!
