rode a friends nighttrain with progressives and all the fancy handling toys and my bob runs very smooth over potholes and traintracks you name it so i amm ok with the stock shocks now harley exhaust sucks or blows depending on your opinion
a lot of folks are down on the sundowner seat and yeah it ie big and kinda bulky looking but after 5000 mile in the saddle the seat has settled in its probably a half an inch lower than when i got it and the rise at the back for the passenger acts like a backrest for my lower back now so its gotten more comfortable and i hardly ever take it off now
freebyrd still in the wind in california

First off comparing a Softail with progressives and a Dyna with stock shocks is about as apples to oranges comparison as you can get. Two entirely different rear suspensions no matter what shocks are being used. I agree on the exhaust and most HD dealer and manufacturer reps probably agree as well but their hands are tied by the EPA. HD spends a lot of money to keep as much sound as they can while meeting EPA requirements but it just isn't good enough IMHO.
As for the seat, I have a Tallboy which is just a push-back version of the Sundowner 2-up seat. And there is no denying it's comfy. But in my opinion it's as f'ugly as it is comfy. Mine would have to settle a lot more than an inch to even come close to looking like it belongs on my bike. However, when riding long distances, it's comfort over looks everytime and I use it. I hate a windshield too but when the f'ugly seat goes on, the f'ugly windshield usually goes with it.
