If you loosen the fork clamp bolts, you and slide the triple trees a little bit lower and then tighten the clamp bolts back up. They will be out of the way. IT will change the geometry of the steering a tad bit, but should be fine and is a simple solution...

Ah... Now I understand. I thought the big nut on the top of the forks were tighten down onto the triple treee, but when I took a closer look at the bike I saw that they are not. A simple solution.

Thanks (tusen takk).

Try Hill Country Custom Cycles. Their web address is www.hillcountrycustomcycles.com They have a assortment of apes for various models. They are pre wired with chrome controls already on the apes. Very good people to work with. Maybe they can answer some of your questions over the net.

man if you clean up the holes all you need to do is use a bit of clear nail polish inside the cut area and you will be golden! i have drilled over 40 sets of bars without a problem... just take your time and make sure that you REALLY clean up the holes, no sharp edges at all!!!!

Too bad they don't post the types they carry...that pretty much crosses any place off my list. I shouldn't have to contact them just to see what their bars look like.

I agree. I think the wild 1 apes are too wide for the mid glide front end. That is why I am sticking with the stock mini apes and having them powder coated gloss black.

1+ I have drilled out many bars and like Joe says just smooth out the holes and put some paint over the surface or get the bars powdercoated.

Rockon, They will set you up with whatever you want. Just tell them what make model & year. And how tall you want and it is yours for about 600.00. I saw on you sig that you are on your way to Colorado. Would that be Ft. Carson? Good luck

May be an old post, but in case anyone searches and finds it, there is an easy and inexpensive solution to the issue of wider diameter bars fitment with integrated risers:

http://lonerindustries.com/Products.aspx

Great product, does the job, and won't break the bank nor take much time to install..
