Default Exhaust Gaskets

Weird question...let's say I put some new gaskets in and install the exhaust, but remove the pipes before ever firing up the bike. Do I need to use new gaskets when I remount the pipes or are the ones I just put in ok?

The initial 'crush' is there. Say you reinstall with the new/old gaskets? Only concern is they do not leak 2nd time around.

You should be fine.
I even managed to re-use my stock gaskets on my 09 Fat Bob when I put the V&H pipes on.

As long as your careful with them and don't tear them up. If you don't hear any exhaust leaks after you fire it back up, your good.

I was wondering about that...so I should definitely know if something's not right when I fire it up?

I have reused gaskets many times but if one leaks it has to come apart new gaskets are cheap

Yes, you'll hear it right away if it's leaking. Exhaust leaks are pretty unmistakable.

And as dyna07 said, if it leaks (even just a little) you need to pull it off and replace the gasket. A leaking gasket will not cure itself and will only get worse.
