Default I solved the Fat Bob's ugly tank panel cover

If you're like me, you hate that stupid leather tank panel cover. I've gone to the local Harley dealer and asked to get one in chrome and they said, "Oh, the Fat Bob is new so they don't make a tank panel cover for it."

I didn't believe them, cause so many of the other Harley parts and components fit on different models. So I went into Quaid Harley Davidson in Temecula and I saw a 2004 Tank Panel cover for the Wide Glide, (chrome) it looked great.

I asked the clerk if it would fit my '08 Fat Bob and they said, "No, Harley doesn't make one for the Fat Bob."

I walked the chrome tank panel cover to the nearby floor model Fat Bob and sure enough, it seemed to fit, even though it was in packaging.

I bought it for $41 even though they said it wouldn't fit. I thought, oh well its only $41.

When I got home I loosened my speedometer and took my seat off. I took off the old leather tank panel cover and threw the ugly old thing onto the ground.

I layed in the '04 Wide Glide Chrome tank panel cover and it FIT LIKE A GLOVE. I tightened up the bolts and now I have a chrome tank panel cover on my '08 Fat Bob. So if you're like me and you wanna get rid of that ugly piece of leather, buy the '04 Wide Glide chrome tank panel cover, it fits perfectly.

My bike looks great with that new chrome piece, I wish Harley would just put it on from the factory floor.

Just to be clear...you're saying that the leather piece is not your favorite, right? I have to say that it's pretty amazing that the guys at the dealer don't realize that the Fat Bob tank is the same as the Wide Glide.

Yeah, I didn't care for the leather and put the chromed plastic cover on. It's not the best quality in the world, but I like it better than what it came with...

Especially since the Wide Glide has a Fat Bob tank (actually now called a Quick Bob because it is one piece).
