Yeah, that's the funny thing about windshields - once you ride with one you never take it off...some people hate them, but it's a personal choice. I have an older HD short detachable and although I hate the way it looks, it works OK. I am going to look for another though, because of that reason and because mine causes wobble or sway at speeds above 75.
I ride with one sometimes but always end up taking it off. I like the looks a whole lot better without it but if going on a long highway ride I'll put it back on.
Its getting colder here so it stays on. I use the touring windshield a little more protection from wind and debris.
Colder? Talked to my daughter Thanksgiving day. She said it was 70 in Terrell. On the subject, I have oem quick detach on both my sporty and lowrider. About the only time I take them off is when I am giving them a bath.Wouldn't think of a long trip without them
I have had both the Memphis Fats and now the HD quick release. The Memphis gave a bit more protection because it was wider but I prefer the HD because of how easy it removes. I dont use it unless I am on a road trip. Also there are no ugly brackets left sitting on the forks.
I also went with the H-D standard height windshield. It is off for around town or short rides; on for long ones or when its cold. The big surprise to me was that my butt and lower back didn't get tired and achey on longer rides with the windshield on - I thought it was the seat that was causing that!
Remember to get the height of the windshield so you are just looking over the top of it.
Just bought the HD quick release sport windshield. Just wonder why I waited so long! The ride comfort is excellent, and cold weather (low 30's) is now a non issue!
