Default 06 vs. 09 wide tire kits

I noticed that HD's wide tire kit has two different part #'s for my 06' Lowrider and a 09' Bob. I'm considering putting a set a 09' Bob spokes on my 06' lowrider. The 09' spokes already have a 180 wide tire mounted on em'. Will this set up work on my bike? The only difference I could see on the kit would have to do with the Bobs new rear fender. I'm thinking the 180 tire on the set I'm looking to buy wont be a problem, the difference is probally only in the install kit. Waddaya think?

I have seen quite a few threads on this and most say you really don't need HD's kit. Mind you that's hear say as I am still running the skinny little 160. No doubt someone who has done it will chime in.

Yeah, thats what I've heard. I guess my concern is more so if the 09' Bob wheel/180 tire is gonna fit my 06' Lowrider. I dont see why it wouldn't. I really think the differnce in the kits is due to the different rear fender. the 09' kit is specific for the 09' Bob, no other 09' dyna models....thats gotta be it. Besides I wont be getting the actual "kit" with the wheel combo any way as I would be buying it used off this forum. Just betting the wheel/tire.

Ya I would say the difference is in the fender.

HMMm I thought thin was in...the tire and wheel combo will fit...It is said if you have detachable hardware kit, that will work fine for the 180 tire. your 06 does have different axle size so will need correct bearings pressed in there.

Did the 09's go to the 25mm bearings? I bet with a big enough hammer you can get the stock axle through it!

Can't speak to the 09 wheel but the tire will certainly fit and I'd bet the difference in the kits has to do with the fenders for sure. But don't worry about the kit, just make sure your wires are secured and out of the way under the fender and, if the wheel fits, put it on and go.
