Default Ape photo favor

I own a 2008 Street Bob and this is my first Harley. Live in Minnesota, so I spent the summer (which is too short as is) just riding it stock as I didn't want to lose any riding time. But today was the last ride and now it is time for the mods to start. I rolled my stock bars as far forward as I could to get that "ape" feel out of them and discovered I like it. I now want to go higher with the bars but being new, am somewhat clueless. Asking those of you on here with apes to post some pictures so that I can get some ideas. Please say the kind of bars and their height so I can get a good judgement. I initially looked at a set from Roland Sands (like the look), but they are just 12 inches max -- if I am going to go up with the bars, why spend the money for a mere 2 inches? Have also looked at Carlini and BR Customs. Any (photo) help would be greatly appreciated.

I have flanders 12 1/2" on my 01 fXd. I had 10 inchers on first, too short.I'm 6ft tall and my arms are just about straight out. If you aren't going to ride long distances, you might like a 14" bar, anything higher may be uncomfortable, harder to control and will open you up to being stopped.

Lots of choices out there, but I do think the Sands bars are way over priced. Are you going with chrome or black? Fred Kodlin has some nice bars, do you want rounded corners or squared? Paughco is another one I have looked at, and Road6Customs. I have Wild1 Chubbys right now, 12" but wider than most.
Check the laws in your state, some have strange rules, I don't see your location on your post.

My Street Bob is gloss (vivid) black, so I think I would like to go with some black bars to complete the theme. Like the more squared off look, but open to all right now. The vast majority of the riding I do is short distance, so not too worried about that. I live in Minnesota which actually no longer has any rules on the book pertaining to height limitations. Besides, I'm a cop anyway, so I kind of have a "get out of jail free card" to begin with. My first thoughts were something in the 14-16 inch range, but would like to see photos first. One thing to hold the tape measure up to the bike and use your imagination, another entirely to actually see the bars on the bike. Thanks for your help.

If squared black is what you want, check these out, reasonable price and they have 12's and 16's pre-drilled, dimpled and knurled.
