My question is: What size above the stock mini apes can I use before changing the length of the cables on my 09 SB? Thanks.

 

Since those wires are internal, I would bet that putting 2 inch risers would be tight but should work. If you wanted to expose all the wires, I know with my nightster I was able to go from stock to 12 inch mini's without having to change out any of the wiring.
When I get a break here at work I can go out to the parking lot and see if the same thing is possible.

your bike comes wiht internal wireing in the bars... nice! did not know that... in that case you will have to cut and solder in extensions... i went from the stock 12's to 16.5 on my bob... granted it is an 06 and did take alot of re routing of the cables to make it happen

 

12-14" should be no problem depending on how wide the bars are. If you want really wide apes the 14" ones may be a stretch.

 

I went from mini-apes to 16's without extending the wiring harness. I did have to swap the cables though.

 

I know this has got to be the 1,000,000th thread asking the same question. Maybe one of us can compile a list based on information available and then maybe the mod could make it a sticky.
