There is nothing wrong with stock....I juiced mine up because I couldn't even hear my own exhaust when riding. Some how, fuel management and a high flow air cleaner snuck in there when the pipes went on...so ya have to be careful!

Okay....I see what's happening. Reading all these threads for the past 2 months has infected me pretty good. No choice but to embrace it all and be one with it.

Like a neck bite from a vampire.........my normal life is over.

Hey MIDLIFE RIDER....thanks for the reply. You are an inspiration for sure.

My wife now is even talking exhaust mods for her Super Glide. I can see this getting out of hand real quick. Darn affliction it is....how about a bailout package for newly broke Harley owners ?

Stock pipes sound great after they burn in. 10K miles they start to sound good. 20K they sound real good. Thing is that most people don't keep a bike that long anymore.

I say whatever floats your boat. You might be more of an individual if you just leave 'em stock. I'm sure your neighbors like it better that way.

I took a 3/4" tire iron and used it to punch a 3/4" hole in the stock exhaust baffles. I like the sound, and the bike breathes a bit better without hammering my ears. I have 83,000+ miles on my wide glide and it still runs great and gets me 50 mpg without ticking others off, works for me---jack

I put 4 different sets of slip-ons on mine and 1 complete system looking for the sound I wanted. That was for me, not my friends or neighbors. I take it easy "in the hood" out of consideration, but I just couldn't stand the sinus infection sound of the stock pipes.

Your neighbors would probably even like it better if you sold your bike and got a car then gave them all your extra cash. Don't try to live to please others, forget them and please yourself. Life becomes much more enjoyable when you do that.

Congrates on your new ride and keep the rubber side down.
+1 I like to make my bike unmistakably "mine". Stock exhaust was pretty good, but it ain't no fun til you set the car alarms off in the parking lot
